Review Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds : Affordable Performance

The Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds are a pair of true wireless earbuds that aren’t too expensive and do the job. They don’t sound great, but they fit well and are cheap, so you might be willing to overlook that.
Most of the time, we see the name Belkin on networking equipment and chargers. In recent years, however, the company has started to sell headphones and earphones with the Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds and the Belkin Soundform Freedom True Wireless Earbuds. The former are the brand’s cheaper wireless earphones.
They were clearly made to be cheap over anything else, and you won’t remember them, but if you’re on a budget and don’t care too much about sound quality, they’ll do the job.
At $59.99/£59.99/AU$87, they won’t break the bank, and we’ve already seen big discounts at third-party stores like Amazon. These are great if you’re in between better true wireless earbuds or aren’t sure if in-ear headphones are right for you.
1. Design
The Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds don’t try to be like the Apple AirPods like so many other earbuds do. Instead, they choose a design that is bigger and feels safer in your hand.
The earbuds come with extra silicone tips in different sizes so you can find the right fit for you. However, we found that the standard size was perfect for our small ears. The earbuds are very light and easy to put in your ears without much trouble.
The carrying case is like any other container made of plastic, but it feels a little heavier than most, so at least it seems pretty sturdy. The carrying case doesn’t have wireless charging, so you’ll have to use a micro-USB cable to charge it. Yes, micro-USB. It seems old, but we guess it works, even though it’s slower than USB-C.
The Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds are sweat- and water-resistant up to an IPX5 rating. This is great if you work out hard or might get caught in a rain shower, but they won’t work well if you swim or submerge them in any way. At this price, though, that’s not too bad.
The Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds have controls that you can use by touching the earbuds. Getting things done involves a mix of taps, double taps, and triple taps that aren’t always right. You might get used to it, but we won’t blame you if you just use the controls on the device these are paired with instead. At least it works with voice assistants, which can be helpful if you’d rather say “Hey Siri” or something similar than tap.
The controls are on top of each earbud, so as long as you’re careful when you put them in, you won’t accidentally turn up the volume.
2. Performance
You know how when you listen to great music on great speakers or headphones, the music sounds even better? You feel alive because it all feels so strong? Not like that are the Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds. They are the pinnacle of “okay.” Perfectly good in every way, but in a way that makes you look at the price tag and say, “Yeah, that’s fair.”
If you play “Come Together” by The Beatles, you won’t be moved to come together and enjoy the wonders. Instead, you’ll be amazed at how the bass isn’t very strong but still gets the job done. “Almost.” There’s nothing at all punchy about this. If you listen to a song like “Under Pressure” by David Bowie or “Feels Like Summer” by Childish Gambino, you won’t hear those fine mids. Everything is fine, but there’s no magic.
The Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds are also not at all harsh, which is good news. They don’t have too much bass either. They are so solidly in the middle that you won’t have any strong feelings about them one way or the other. All of it is strangely soulless and useful.
At least for podcasts and audiobooks, this performance is fine, but we would have liked better performance when taking calls. The last one isn’t very strong.
3. Connectivity
When it comes to battery life, the Belkin Soundform True Wireless Earbuds are pretty good. With the promise of up to 5 hours of nonstop play, that’s about what we found.
The case itself has a battery life of up to 24 hours, which is good because you won’t need to charge it too often because it uses micro-USB instead of USB-C, which is more modern. It’s also better than the AirPods.
Connectivity is nothing special, which is exactly what you want. No one wants to remember how they paired their earbuds; they just want them to work. We also didn’t have any power outages. It’s also helpful that you can use each earbud on its own if you need to.
